In addition to marine communications, VHF is also used for FM radio transmissions and long-range data communications. It operates between 30 MHz and 300 MHz. Since low-band VHF has significantly more radio interference, I will not recommend its use in severe applications.
Further, if I am using professional applications, I will usually select high-band VHF, since these devices are generally used by the general public to communicate such as wireless microphones. As a result of its limited power of 50mW, I would recommend operating two to three frequency units.
The actual measurement of UHF is between 12 and 24 inches. As a result of its extensive frequency range, UHF can carry a wider array of audio signals and occupies a greater part of the available bandwidth. Therefore, I am permitted to use a maximum of 250 milliwatts.
Some UHF frequencies in the high and low bands overlap; for example, the high band frequency is 470-806 MHz, while the low band frequency is 450-536 MHz. These frequencies are subject to tropical disturbances and require appropriate antennas. Because of its short wavelength, UHF transmissions are highly advantageous when there is a high frequency.
There are obstructions

Due to geographical factors and obstructions around, this range will reduce to a few miles in suburban settings.
In short-range FRS radios, the power output is 12 watts and there is no license requirement. Many individuals use these radios because of this. The only downside of FRS radios is that they do not have a very long range.
